The wedding business is booming, with as many as 2.6 million weddings set to take place in 2022, and no sense of slowing down in the year to come. This is great news for wedding and event pros who had to put their businesses on hold due to the pandemic, and while you’re happy to be back to work, being so busy can take a toll on your professional and personal life. Luckily, there are steps you can take to make sure you maintain the right balance so that you’re taking care of yourself and your business!

Set Boundaries

This can be hard to do both personally and professionally but mastering the art of saying “no” is crucial in maintaining your physical and mental health. No one person can take on everything that is thrown at them so be honest about what you can realistically handle and be honest when people ask things of you that you simply don’t have the time or energy for.

Create a Work Schedule

When meeting with prospective clients, be specific about when you are available for them throughout the week and include those hours in your contract with them. This way, when at home, you can focus on family, friends, and self-care.

Arrange Your Time Off

Just like you schedule important meetings and events, you need to prioritize your time off, including special events, mental health days, and even simply working out. Set appointments for this important “me” time and honor them like you would your work commitments.

Learn to Delegate

When you’re running a business, it can be hard to pass off tasks to others—after all, it’s your name and reputation on the line. But it’s impossible to do everything, so make hiring people a must-do. If your budget allows, outsource certain things like marketing, PR, social media, accounting, etc. to allow more time for other tasks.

Get Physical

Moving around is crucial to your overall health. In fact, studies have proven a strong link between physical activity and mental health. Exercising lowers your body’s stress hormones and helps release endorphins, as well as boosts your ability to have a good night's sleep. Pencil in time for the gym, a bike ride, a swim, or a walk around the neighborhood—just make sure you get moving!

Limit Social Media Use

Yes, you need social media to promote your business, but spending too much time on it can also make you unhappy. In fact, a British study found that too many hours on social media can lead to decreased, disrupted, and delayed sleep, which is associated with depression and memory loss. In order to combat this, be sure to stop scrolling at least 30 minutes before bed.

Show gratitude

Many people are still struggling due to the pandemic. Don’t forget to remember how lucky you are to have a job you love—and that business is booming! Whether it’s keeping a gratitude journal or taking a moment to think about all of the blessings in your life (personal and professional), this is a habit you want to make a daily routine.

Find What Relaxes You

Relaxation looks different for everyone. From getting a pedicure and reading a book to gardening and watching a movie, find out what works best for you and mark it in your calendar to make sure you make time for it.
